In mid‑October 2025, the grassy hills of Toli Pir, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), came alive as the country’s most recent edition of the national grass‑ski competition — the 4th National Grass Ski Championship — concluded successfully. The event, held from 15 to 18 October 2025, brought together more than 100 male and female athletes from across Pakistan under autumn skies and scenic high‑altitude slopes.
The championship featured two main competition formats: Giant Slalom (GS) and Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS) — adapted for grassy terrain instead of snow. Riders first participated in two days of professional training, after which the actual races began. In men’s GS, GB Scouts ace Zahid Abbas claimed the top spot with a time of 18.19 minutes, while his teammates and clubmates shared the runners‑up position. On the women’s side, Madaklasht Winter Sports Club’s Muntasha stood out by clinching the gold with 20.92 minutes, followed closely by teammates.
In the PGS format, GB Scouts again dominated the men’s podium, while Madaklasht swept the women’s category — underlining the growing strength of these clubs in Pakistan’s grass skiing circuit. Dawn The championship recognised outstanding performers: Zahid Abbas and Muntasha were declared best athletes of the event for their consistent excellence across formats.
Organized by the AJK Winter Sports Association with support from the Winter Sports Federation Pakistan (WSFP), alongside provincial tourism and sports departments, the championship underscores a growing push to promote adventure sports — and eco‑tourism — in Pakistan’s mountainous terrain. Local officials emphasized that events like this not only foster sporting talent, but also open new avenues for seasonal tourism, youth engagement, and regional development in places like AJK and beyond.
The 2025 edition of the National Grass Ski Championship at Toli Pir reflects the expanding footprint of winter and adventure sports in Pakistan — bringing together skill, competition, nature and community under one banner.
