WSFP Brings Floor Curling Experience to Islamabad

The Winter Sports Federation Pakistan (WSFP) successfully organized an engaging and family-oriented Floor Curling activity for PAF officers and their families at PAF Base Islamabad, on 17 May 2026. The event was conducted with the objective of promoting winter sports culture in Pakistan while encouraging healthy recreational and community-building activities among families.
The activity attracted enthusiastic participation from officers, ladies, and children, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with learning, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Designed as both a recreational and awareness initiative, the event introduced participants to one of the world’s unique winter sports disciplines in an accessible indoor format.
The program was conducted under the supervision of Sabena Islam Butt, Director Curling WSFP, who provided participants with a comprehensive introduction to the sport. The session covered the history, importance, and growing relevance of curling as an emerging winter sport in Pakistan. Participants were familiarized with the rules of the game, playing techniques, equipment handling, and safety measures.
Friendly participation matches were organized, allowing families and children to experience the sport in a fun and competitive environment. The event emphasized discipline, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship, all of which are core values promoted by WSFP. By introducing floor curling in a family-friendly setting, the federation aims to inspire broader public interest and encourage participation in winter sporting activities nationwide.
More than 100 young players were registered during the activity. Participants appreciated the arrangements and expressed keen interest in the organization of similar winter sports and recreational events in the future.
